A couple of weeks ago I watched an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon (as a replay, of course, I can’t stay up that late 😉 ). Kevin Hart was co-host for the night, and at the end of the show, Robert Irwin brought out some animals to show off to the hosts and the crowd.
Kevin. was. petrified.
I’ll bet some of his reaction was acting and playing off the audience’s laughter, but I’m sure most of it was legitimate (though how could anyone be terrified of a baby ostrich?).
The thing that struck me was that Jimmy also appeared afraid (especially of the tarantula — I’d be right there climbing the walls with you buddy), BUT he chose to move forward in spite of his fear. While Kevin stood on the other end of the stage, Jimmy trusted Robert enough to listen to his words coaching him through how to hold the animals.
Sometimes fear comes in the form of wild animals. But sometimes it’s also of the unknown, of change, or that something will happen to my kids.
I want to be like Jimmy. Acknowledge the fear, but don’t allow it paralyze me or stop me from moving forward and enjoying life.
What are you afraid of?

I saw parts of that also, funny how people react differently to fear. I’m more of a Kevin Hart type. LOL
I myself have been afraid of quite a few things, at this time in my life it seems to be other peoples driving. Getting in a car and getting on a busy roadway gives me great anxiety lately… mortality catching up with me I guess.
I look forward to seeing more from you… just something you might check… I am not sure if it was an error on my end or yours, but your landing page does not seem to be linked to each days piece. It’ll be easier for people to come back for more if your landing page has the links.

Thanks so much — I knew I’d forgotten something. 🙂 It’s fixed now!

I’m afraid I’m more of a ‘pull away from ‘ than ‘lean into’ fear person! But it’s something to think about. I have to ask myself “What’s the worst that could happen?” and then move forward! Good post!

Sometimes fear comes in the form of wild animals! Love that! Ah! Like the daily surprises of “my men.”

I saw a video in CC (Closed Captioning) and it was hilarious! Lately, I am wanting to face my fears too. I am wanting to step on a plane and just head for places. But, I haven’t since the late 90s. The irrational fears overwhelm me to the point where I get physically sick before boarding the plane and I get panic attacks. But lately, I want to overcome some of my fears like this one. It’s a huge challenge.
