The month of October has come to a close. During this Write31Days challenge I’ve grown and been stretched and learned a whole bunch of things about myself and my writing.
- I had great ambitions for writing ahead, that didn’t always work out so well.
- Thankfully, I didn’t allow the “all or nothing” mentality to creep in for a single minute. Previously, looking at my table of contents for the month and all of the empty links would have given me hives.
- Instead, I see that I posted 19 times this month. 19 TIMES! That’s an average of just under 5 posts a week. Up until this month I’d been lucky to post once a week.
- I’ve established a rhythm to my weekdays that I love — once my husband and big girls leave for school at 6:30am, I have about an hour until the toddler wakes up. I pour myself the rest of the coffee from the pot, sit down in my comfy chair, and write.
- I’ve really enjoyed having topics already planned for me to write about, even if it’s just been a single word. One of the roadblocks I’d run into during summer and early fall was simply thinking of what to write about. Most of my decision-making brain-space gets taken up by regular life and young kids…
- But I’m not sure what that means going forward. I don’t have someone planning my topics for me.
That’s where I need your help, dear reader.
In my monthly newsletter that went out on Monday (sign up here if you didn’t receive it!), I asked the question: What are your biggest stress points during the holiday season, or what kind of encouragement you look for this time of year?
I genuinely want to know! If I’m going to keep writing, I might as well write things that YOU want to read. 🙂
Will you please comment below, or send me an email, and let me know what tips or stories about the upcoming holiday season would be most helpful to read this month?
I’m turning the page and closing the chapter on October, but am excited to open up November and see what it holds for us. Thanks for coming along on this writing-practice journey with me this month, I hope you stick around for more sweet sunshine!
31Days of Five Minute Free Writes is a participation in Write31Days, which takes place every October. See the rest of my craft-practicing posts linked up here.

Congratulations on the 19 posts! That’s a big deal. I agree, it’s easier to write with a prompt. I’m not sure what I’ll be writing about in November, but hopefully I’ll post at least once a week!

Thanks Aneta! 🙂 What sorts of things stress you out in November and December? Good luck with your own writing!
