You know that warm fuzzy feeling you get when something inspires you? When you see someone doing or accomplishing something, and it doesn’t make you jealous but instead makes you want to really be like them? Or you accomplish something yourself and it makes you want to do it again?
I feel like I’ve used the word “inspiring” a lot. Especially in comments on social media. “That’s so inspiring! Thanks for sharing!”
Yet when it came time to write this post, not a single specific moment came to mind.
Guess those things weren’t very inspiring after all…
So I went to Facebook and searched my name plus the word inspiring, and came back with a handful of “oh yeah!” moments.
And then there was this photo that went viral last spring. Do you remember seeing it?
She wasn’t an inspiring musician or sports star. She didn’t set out to change the world. I don’t even know her name.
But you know what? I’ve taken a lot less photos since May. I’ve chosen to be present in many moments, soaking up my kids’ smiles while others take photos that I’ll ask for later.
It’s often easy to identify situations and people who inspire us — but look again at the photo above, and turn this idea around:
How can YOU be an inspiration to someone else today? What can be a way you live your life that makes someone notice YOU and change their lifestyle or activities because of something YOU do?
