It’s been an interesting summer.
I’m a bit of a weather geek, so I follow multiple sources of information. The local news meteorologist’s blog. The National Weather Service out of my closest big city. Weather.com. (has anyone else noticed how they gave their app a major overhaul recently? I’m not sure if I like it or not…)
This summer featured record high temperatures and drought across many areas in Michigan. My lawn turned brown. I thanked God nearly every day for air conditioning.
Over the last two weeks — the first two weeks of school, interesting enough — we’ve experienced storm after storm. Some days would rain and mist all day, some would simply have a single burst of heavy downpour and be done.
No matter what the meteorologists would predict, the weather always changed. It was useless to try to make outdoor plans more than 24 hours in advance (sometimes even an hour or two…) because these storms that looked to be widespread would eventually pop up and down without notice.
Now my lawn and flowers are beautiful again and fall-like temperatures have arrived. It may be a bit cliche, but I do appreciate the reminder that storms and rain will come and go in my life, and on the other side something beautiful is waiting.
Have you experienced rain or drought this summer? Literally or figuratively? 🙂

I’m your FMF neighbor- we have had much more rain than normal here in North Texas as well. It has been such a blessing to improve our personal green space (lawn). Thanks for sharing. My faith praise worked. My repairs on the rental house were way less than I had feared. Funny how the Lord works that all out and then you wonder why you ever worried.

Funny – we have had much different weather (still waiting for it to cool off and feel a bit more like fall…) but the unpredictableness of the weather is surely the same! So many apps and so much information – but you just never can be sure:) Such a cool picture of fireworks and lightning! Happy Friday…from a FMF friend.

I learned to fly when I was sixteen, and learned quick that the weather that is THERE is the stuff you’ll be flying through, whatever the weather guessers said.
With the pain of two kinds of cancers visibly taking their toll, a lot of people are really irritated that I remain cheerful and buoyant. I am in the storm; I should be huddled and woeful, a bedraggled rooster in a rain-lashed farmyard.
But I LIKE storms. Can’t have rainbows without them, eh?
