“I will take it!
I will take it.
I will take the ring to Mordor. Though… I do not know the way.”
It’s one of my favorite scenes, in one of my favorite movies. The Council of Elrond, meeting in beautiful Rivendell, are discussing what to do with the One Ring. Most agree its power is not to be used, and it is impossible to destroy by anything but the fires of Mount Doom.
Voices become raised, arguing over who should or should not take the ring. Frodo watches, becoming more and more distressed. Finally he stands up and shouts at the council.
After a brief, astonished pause, one by one the council members (and a few eavesdropping hobbits) each make a statement to go with him. They offer protection, a sword, bow, axe, and friendship. And so the fellowship of the ring is formed.
We are not meant to walk the way of life alone. Sometimes we know the way to where we are traveling; often we don’t. We need mentors, and we need friends. People who have “been there” and can guide us, and people to simply come along and encourage us.
Be brave. Take that next (or first) step on the way of your journey, even if you don’t know the full path in front of you.
Five Minute Friday is a weekly opportunity to simply write about one word for five minutes flat, and link-up what you’ve written, to connect with other writers.

I love how you wrote: “We are not meant to walk the way of life alone.” I’m so thankful for the people God has brought into my life to help and encourage me along the way. I’m also thankful for the Five Minute Friday writers who share from their hearts, like you.
