My 9-year-old daughter has been taking piano lessons since June. The other day she played a piece that I legitimately said I didn’t think I’d be able to play myself (I can’t get both hands going at different times). It astounded me at how far she’s come in just over three months.
It takes practice to become skilled at something. Playing an instrument, cooking, running… writing.
While the full Write31Days event that I participated in last year (and many other years on my former book blog) is no longer happening, Five Minute Free Writes is. Given a list of one-word prompts, I hope that this month will once again allow me to stretch my writing muscles for a few minutes each day.
This post will be my landing page, my “table of contents” for the month. Some days will be linked to posts I write here, some might be attached to Instagram posts. I’m not yet sure how the month will go, but I’m going to give it as much as I can.
Because how can you get better at something, and pursue your dream, if you never take the time to practice?
Will you hold me accountable? Comment on posts, check in if I’ve missed a few days, let me know when something resonates with you? Because ultimately, I’m doing this for you, my reader. Thanks for coming along on this journey with me.
